Euphonic Dissonance rolls out their new promo campaign for the Psalm 69 – ReWired Sheep song. We recently had the opportunity to work on this phenomenal track originally recorded by industrial music giants Ministry.

Our digital music distribution website of choice is a website called Tunecore.com. We like it there. It’s cozy and you can warm your feet next to their virtual fire. Plus, they allow Euphonic Dissonance to distribute music to anyone who has access to iTunes, Amazon, MySpace Music, eMusic, Napster (who still uses Napster?) – yeah, lots of kick ass sites.

Welly well, Tunecore decides to have this over-the-top contest where they team-up with Paul Barker from Ministry and release the bass part and all the samples for their hit song Psalm 69. Contestants were encouraged to make the song their own and that’s exactly what we did. Here is our new ad for Psalm 69 – ReWired Sheep. Just click on it to be magically moved to iTunes and hear a sample of our new song. Below the picture you will find html code that you can copy and add to your website if you’d like to help us promote this amazing new song. We appreciate the help.

Euphonic Dissonance - Psalm 69 - Rewired Sheep (feat. Ministry) - Single

New years eve was a nightmare. I went to bed at about 6am after working on this song all night and then woke up around noon on new years eve to give it a fresh listen and submit the song into the contest. December 31st was the deadline for the contest …. and yes, we waited until the final day to submit the song. We’ll be entering this song into a Tunecore.com contest. Winner will be featured on the upcoming soundtrack for the movie FIX (a documentary on Ministry). Former Ministry bassist Paul Barker will be picking the best song. No pressure – right?

So here it is – DEADLINE DAY – I give the song a listen – make some final tweaks to the mix – and go to submit the song to tunecore / itunes.

Keep in mind folks – I had very little sleep. I somehow missed the part on tunecore’s website where I was supposed to enter  the code ministry. This probably flags the administrator to put your single into the contest. Naturally, upon realizing my mistake, I try to contact tunecore to fix the problem. Unfortunately, it’s new years eve and they are closed. Can’t reach them on the phone or via email and they won’t return until January 3rd. OH NO!!! According to tunecore’s website the contest is judged on January 2nd. Now – I PANIC!!! In my sleep deprived state I panic. After screaming at my computer and getting no response I make a phone call to Sarah and we decided to simply submit the song a second time under a slightly different name. Psalm 69 – ReWired Sheep became Psalm 69 – Sheep ReWired and this time we submitted it into the British iTunes store rather than the American iTunes store (where we submitted originally). This time I actually got the code in and all was good in the world. We lost an extra 10 dollars but it was worth it. A lot of hard work went into this track and I wasn’t willing to give up on an opportunity for Paul Barker to hear our track.

We’re very happy to have had a chance to work on such an amazing song. This has been an experience I won’t soon forget – even if it was an extremely stressful one in the end. I want to thank tunecore.com and Paul Barker of Ministry for giving us this chance. I haven’t found anything on tunecore that says when they will announce the winner of this contest but rest assured we will keep you updated. Wish us luck.

And to our fans – thanks for all your support.

Euphonic Dissonance re-imagines Ministry’s Psalm 69 Part 5

by on Dec.29, 2010, under MUSIC, POLITICS, RELIGION, UPDATES

Brian brings an update on the recording of Ministry’s PSALM 69 – RE-IMAGINED…

If you like this blog then you should SUBSCRIBE TO OUR BLOG

Here are the FINISHED LYRICS for the re-imagined PSALM 69 song we’re going to be submitting into this fine contest put together by Tunecore and Ministry. We’ve only got until friday of this week to finish this track so we’re working hard to pull it all together.

Working on this track – I’ve been surprised to find that I misunderstood many of the samples. For instance – what I thought was “fire – god’s dreamer” is actually “liar – blasphemer”. How did I screw that up?

I’m working on the vocals now so you can expect to hear something new and exciting tomorrow. It’s really almost done!!!!

LYRICS FOR PSALM 69 – RE-IMAGINED

Verse 1

They march up and down the street
Planting their feet
One foot in front of the other
Can you hear me brother?

Do you bear the mark?
If not they’ll drag you off

Make you understand
His master plan
The body of christ looked unto me
He made them better than man
And now they preach unto thee
Of the great short attention span

Verse 2

Wish we could turn back the clock
Before they fed us this crock
Should have saved Assange
They were the chosen ones

Have you prayed today?
Get on your knees and pray

Humble yourself before the messiah
Learn your place – call him sire
In his name we maim
With christ to conspire
Learning to prowl in his name
More souls to acquire
Taking their message door to door
Find out what you stand for
Promises of everlasting life
But at what price?

Verse 3

They call it war
A war that we pay for
A fight to stop heresy
Not written but spoken decree

Please present i.d.
Before we make you bleed

Listen to the words of our lord
Learn to fight with his sword
They tend to the sheep
Wiring up the flock
Their minds are asleep
They feel a mild shock
Focus their weary mind
Mission so defined
Promise to live forever
With no proof whatsoever

Hook

Revolution comes
New world
New order
Psalm 69

Still no chorus worked up but definitely have a concept of what we want to do with that. Oh, we should have a third verse very soon. Be patient. I figured you guys were tired of reading about Julian Assange in our blogs but look – SUPRISE – I included him in these lyrics. Well, that’s it for now. Should probably get back to work and finish writing these lyrics so we can have this done before the end of the month. So … what do you think of the lyrics?

Euphonic Dissonance re-imagines Ministry’s Psalm 69 Part 3

by on Dec.03, 2010, under MOVIES | TELEVISION, MUSIC, RELIGION, UPDATES

Brian hits us with an update on the remake of Ministry’s song “Psalm 69” performed by Euphonic Dissonance.

We’re making good progress and should definitely be able to make the contest deadline at the end of December. Some of the other songs have been put to the side until this little gem is finished. We’re working on a deadline, sorry, other stuff will have to wait. We’ll be entering this song into the Tunecore.com contest. Winner will be featured on the upcoming soundtrack for the movie FIX (a documentary on Ministry).

The track is truly starting to take form. Now you’ll be listening to an entire song rather than just half of a song faded after the bridge. Isn’t that exciting? Okay, settle down. Here’s the song.

Yeah, we had some down time due to the holidays – god bless us everyone – but as you can hear we are right back at it and recording some great stuff. I gotta say – it’s been a real pleasure to play guitar alongside a bass playing legend such as Paul Barker.

Don’t know about you guys but we are really looking forward to seeing this movie. Subscribe to our blog so you can read the next installment and hear all the new things we’ve added to this amazing new song featuring original samples of Ministry’s PSALM 69.

Euphonic Dissonance re-imagines Ministry’s Psalm 69 Part 2

by on Nov.28, 2010, under MUSIC, UPDATES

Progressive industrial music group Euphonic Dissonance takes on the task of re-imagining the Ministry song PSALM 69. Here’s an update on their progress. This song will be entered into a contest to be featured in the upcoming movie soundtrack for FIX – a movie about Ministry.

Here’s what a certain Ministry’s Psalm 69 sounds like when you pump it through the Euphonic Dissonance musical grinder. What’s different than the previous blog about this song? – well, we added some delightfully distorted guitars to the mix. Their just rough cuts on the guitar parts. Will hopefully do some more work on that tomorrow but got caught up in rounding out the song in other ways. Sorry for the bridge fade but there isn’t much going on beyond the bridge that isn’t a train wreck. That will be resolved very soon.

MInistry Remake Psalm 69 – rough draft 2 fade at bridge

Trying to drop some very subtle hip-hop elements into the drum mix. Can’t wait till this bad angry child is fully grown.
Such a great song and we are having a great time working on this one.

and now…..some fun Ministry lyrics

tell me something i don’t know
show me something i can’t use
push the button
connect the goddamned dots
live-in thief in my bedroom bathroom
commodity sodomy glass autonomy
promise everything take it all away
give it a rest
you’re lying through your teeth
you’re lying through your teeth
who what which why who
when did you say the earth would stop turning?
when did you say we would all start burning?
when should i make a pledge?
should i listen to the voices in my head?
connect the goddamned dots
connect the goddamned dots
connect the goddamned dots
who am i trying to impress?
who could care less?
tell me something i don’t know

Euphonic Dissonance re-imagines Ministry’s Psalm 69

by on Nov.22, 2010, under MOVIES | TELEVISION, MUSIC, UPDATES

Great news. Euphonic Dissonance will be working on a re-thinking of Ministry’s song “Psalm 69”. We’re going to be submitting our little tidbit into this fine contest put together by Tunecore and Ministry. We are so frikkin’ pumped about this.

Paul Barker (bass guitarist, producer and engineer for Ministry) is providing bass tracks and all the samples for producing the song. He’ll also be judging the contest. Our stuff is going to be heard by one of the founding members of Ministry whether we win or not – again folks – THIS IS HUGE!!!! If we win the contest our song will be included on the companion album to the film.

Here is the original song and corresponding video.

If video not displayed – CLICK HERE to hear Ministry’s PSALM 69

So here is a sample of the track that we are currently working on for the contest. It’s very rough but should give you a feel for where this is going.

Sorry about that chaotic ending to the song. If you actually made it to the end there is a chaotic little mistake that’s quite loud and abrasive. Well, that’s all for now. I imagine you’ll hear more on our progress very soon. So, Ministry fans – what’s your favorite Ministry song?

Martin Atkins TOUR SMART and MYSPACE mp3 sales

by on Mar.07, 2010, under MUSIC, UPDATES

* Brian of Euphonic Dissonance gives a progress report. *

TOUR SMART

Just finished the book by Martin Atkins, TOUR SMART : AND BREAK THE BAND.

tour smart and break the band

Martin Atkins is the Chef Gordon Ramsey of the music world. He’s a wee bit nicer than Ramsey but he uses an equal amount of swear words. I know a lot of my cronies laugh at me for reading these “how to make it in the business” books. I made a promise to myself a long time ago about this music business stuff and that was that I would never run blindly into anything!!!! I have read a lot about the music industry and the one crystal clear thing I’ve learned from what I’ve read and witnessed firsthand is that if you don’t educate yourself someone will take advantage of your stupidity. I’m not going to let that happen or at the least I’m going to do everything in my power to prevent it from happening. So go ahead and laugh and scoff…..I’ll be waving at you from the stage someday soon ….. oh ….. and I’ll be making money while I’m doing it.

THE HATERS CAN GO SCREW OFF!!!!

Now that I have that out of my system…. if you are a musician and you’re serious about making some money and you’re willing to work hard then this is the book for you. Also, good news is ….. it’s not a boring strictly business type book. Martin Atkins is seriously funny (what the hell does that even mean? SERIOUSLY FUNNY? That makes no f**kin’ sense). But when you’re dealing with messed up touring musician drama how can you not make a joke? Everyone enjoys crazy, zany rock star stories. That keeps VH1 on the air.

Oh yeah, I didn’t mention that this guy knows the music business in and out and upside down wiggling it’s ass in the air. He comes from deep inside the womb of the industrial music movement. After playing drums in a variety of English bands, Martin auditioned for and subsequently joined Johnny Rotten’s Public Image Limited in 1979. His first contribution to the band was co?writing and performing on the song “Bad Baby” for the revered Metal Box LP. After touring the world with P.i.L and contributing to several more studio albums Martin left the group in 1985. Over the next five years, he played with and managed Killing Joke and toured with Ministry. In 1990, while on tour with Ministry, he formed his own band, Pigface. He also worked with Nine Inch Nails, performing on the Grammy award winning “Wish” and appearing in the “Head like a Hole” video. This man has stood side by side with some of the most influential musicians in one of my favorite genres of music. Damn impressive.

Hey Martin, call me when you want to start working on your MARTIN ATKINS TOUR SMART REALITY SHOW. I got some ideas for you.

I’m Such a Filthy Little Whore

by on Apr.10, 2009, under MUSIC

I feel so dirty. As a musician in this new age of the internets I’m constantly having to market my music. It very difficult to know where to draw the line sometimes. The artist in me wishes he didn’t have to do all this tedious work. I would much rather be working on music than typing this blog but this blog might be the one thing that causes you to buy our album. It’s all about exposure. If you don’t expose yourself to people they won’t buy your product. Would you like for me to expose myself? I bet you would.

I’m a very private person. You probably would have never guessed that from reading my blogs. I like my privacy and doing this kind of work doesn’t allow you to have a private life. It’s disrupting. It’s disturbing. I don’t like it.

And at the same time I love it. I love the music. I love the thrill of playing before a crowd. I enjoy mingling with the fans after a good show. (mingling after a bad show is just kind of depressing….rather go home and cry in a beer) But it’s really the making and performing of music that thrills the artist – it’s not marketing. However, we are forced in this new economic climate to market ourselves.

Please forgive me. I beg you to forgive me. I’m a recording artist and I really don’t know the first friggin’ thing about marketing and advertising. I’m guessing as to what will work and won’t work. I’m experimenting. And I have absolutely no concept of what’s too little or what’s too much. I’m not a graphic designer, I’m not a website designer, I’m not a professional advertising agency, I’m not a booking agent, I’m not a major record label – I’m a musician. But if I ever want a lot of people to hear my music I have to learn to be all of the things I previously listed. I have to adapt and learn. It’s the only way to make it in this business.

If you are a fellow musician and you’re trying to learn more about how to whore yourself out to the masses I would recomend you read a book by Martin Atkins titled Tour Smart: And Break The Band. I think I’m in the third of 4th chapter but it’s been a great read so far. This guy really has some insight on what you will face on the road while touring. It’s mostly about touring but there are some good things in there about whoring yourself out for the almighty dollar. Martin seems to understand that a band won’t make it in the business if they aren’t willing to adapt and become a filthy little whore willing to do any job that has to be done. You have to be willing to work in order to make something of yourself and most musicians don’t seem to grasp that concept.

MMMMM ….. rim job.

I felt that after a rant like that it’s only appropriate to include the following clip of The Who performing My Generation on the  Smothers Brothers show. Good god I want to blow up some friggin’ drums. But it’s more my style to just set them on fire.
