Tinnitus or Whistling Ears

by on Jul.01, 2017, under POETRY | LYRICS

The wind is rushing around and we are carried along on two wheels. Hard to hear any audible sound due to the whooshing sound in our ears. I try to give direction but the words are lost in the deafening breeze. They drift away and begin to mingle amongst the leaves on the trees. A beautiful day in May turned sour by a misunderstanding – not once but twice. At the time I blamed it on the wind but it seems there were underlying things I couldn’t see. Tensions mount as you turn about to follow me trying to bark your disdain into my ear but nature won’t let you through. My dislike with the situation grows and soon I’m as angry as the wind. I command you to be silent as if I have some sort of control over you. I can’t tell you what to do any more than I can the wind. Neither one of you listen. I move ahead – go faster trying to escape the incessant howl.

We finally reach our destination and duck inside finally escaping the blustering air but your brash whining only escalates. I just can’t get away so I storm back outside with only the sound of the natural world at my side. I gather my senses and try to settle down. How did such a wonderful and peaceful day go so awry? After a few minutes of self reflection it’s time to go back inside and apologize. We talk and seemingly work things out but I’m unaware of the pressure that is building underneath. Believing we are okay we part ways. If only I could have seen. If only I’d heard what the wind was telling me.

Steal a TARDIS

by on Jul.01, 2015, under POETRY | LYRICS

I can live without her

Six years of living a lie

Steal myself a TARDIS

Travel back in time

Build a paradox machine

And relive those lost days

Take back all the time

That she took away

The Master of my destiny

She took that away from me

Made me human

That I cannot forgive

The superior alien race

Until the very end

Remove memories of her

With laser precision

Decimate the thoughts of her

With great intention

Her paltry understanding of physics

Brain numbing banter on mentality

I refuse to dwell there anymore

I’m capable of so much more

Those that love me will worship me

Those that don’t will learn to fear me

For the narcissist will resurface again

And I will see to this world’s ultimate end.

Conceal the truth

but it’s still a lie

Hide your true feelings deep inside

I now realize love is truly blind

Because I never saw a thing.

All along you were playing me

and I was too in love to truly see

That I was wasting my breath

Wasting my time

Wasting my life!

When you’re too close

Sometimes that’s when it’s hardest to see.

You care too much to believe they’d do you harm

but all along they’re fucking you

You have no idea of the things they do when they are gone.

Now it’s truly over.

It’s all truly over.

And I wonder if I’m just paranoid.

I’m just a little bit obsessed

and I’ve been a bit depressed

But I’m picking up these pieces one by one.

And I wonder what kind of man I will be

Now that you’ve taken this huge piece of me

How long until I learn to trust again?

Musing Moon

by on Jun.30, 2015, under POETRY | LYRICS

Separated by distance

Deep in the night

And the moon looks so bright

A half moon covered by clouds

Blocking certain memories out

I wonder if you remember the things that I do

Caught up in my mind

In stanza and rhyme

I’ll never forget the moments we shared

I wrote them all down

So they wouldn’t drown

In the seas of my malcontent

The circle must not be broken

They cycle must stay the same

For the universe must maintain

And it is here we must remain

But I’m looking for the message

Desperately digging through the ruins

Trying to find meaning

And realizing it’s probably right in front of me

FatAss WiFi American Nation – Poetry Slams – Randomness

by on Sep.13, 2009, under BOOKS, MUSIC, POLITICS, TECH MESSIAH

Sitting in bed – in the bedroom – with the lights off – the air conditioner on full blast – it’s a rainy day outside – I’m listening to Imogen Heap’s new album “Ellipse” —–and as far as I’m concerned — this is what makes life worth living. I love how technology allows me to access any album I want to hear from any computer in my house via the wonders of WI-FI. I hereby thank my fore fathers (and mothers…no one ever says anything about the fore mothers) for allowing me to live a life of such excess. It’s good to be a fat lazy american. I appreciate the life god has given me and I don’t thank him nearly enough for the blessings he bestows on me.

I like to listen to another artists work before I begin to work on music. I find it gives me a sense of direction. I’m not exactly sure where this Imogen Heap album is directing me but I’m really thrilled that I heard her say LEGOLAND EMPIRES just now in the lyrics of the song “EARTH” track 4. Ah, I want to build my own LEGOLAND EMPIRE. I want to hide away there and just play with legos all day long.

I’m finding it very hard to let go of my recluse lifestyle. I like shutting myself off from the rest of the world for long periods of time. It allows me time to find myself again. However, I’m pretty sure I found myself a long time ago. I just don’t want to leave the safety of the fold. I did go out recently though. I attended a poetry slam with newest Euphonic Dissonance band mate Sarah Star. Quite a delightful scene they have going at the Agora coffee house. What a incredible outpouring of angry – jagged poetry. It was like an emotional roller coaster ride through my soul. Being a musician and a lyricist I have always been fascinated with the design and execution of poetry. This should be no surprise – I did start reading Shakespeare about the same time I hit puberty. Good lord I was a messed up child. Now I’m a messed up adult. Why is it the world continues to change but I remain the same. I suspect the squids have something to do with it.

Meanwhile at the Agora coffee house….. an honorable mention goes out to poets Seth Walker and Claire Collins. Wow, way to rock the house with some amazing use of the english language.

Seth Walker delivers a message that you just can’t ignore even if you don’t necessarily agree with it.

Somehow I seriously doubt he gives a sh*t if you don’t agree with it. I respect that. His delivery is that of a good novel ….. here in lies that emotional rollercoaster ride I mentioned earlier. I almost cried when he read the open letter to his little brother who was thinking of joining the Navy. By the by ….. Seth ain’t too cool with the war in Iraq and Afghanistan and he definitely makes that clear. He’s traveling across are great nation with a message for every american and near as I can tell one of those messages is “WAKE THE FU*K UP YOU DUMB ASS LAZY AMERICANS AND PAY ATTENTION TO THE SH*T THAT IS GOING DOWN AROUND YOU”. That part of the message I agree with. Check him out at SETHWALKERPOETRY.COM

Now I have to throw a shout out to the poet that invited us to this event. CLAIRE MOTHERFU*KIN’ COLLINS is a phenomenal poet that has a delivery that resembles that of a chainsaw buried into your skull. You can tell that she has a message and she’ll tear right through you to deliver it.

Hmmm, she seems subdued in that video clip. You’re truly missing out. You need to go see her live.

Well, I suppose it’s about time I did something productive. Time to take all these influences and put them to work on creations of the Euphonic Dissonance kind. If you’re lucky you might hear from me later today with more musical creations from the musical group known as ED. Love you all.

Stick It In Me All The Way

by on Mar.25, 2009, under MUSIC

Roll up your sleeve
Let the wires snake up under your skin
Feel it enter in
Shudder slightly at the prick
It’s just a little stick
Close your eyes and curl your toes
The nanobots enter you through the hose
Bring about the most vivid dreams
Finger the spot
Insert the needle
Sweet oblivion waits
He beckons you to be with him
You fade away
Forget the world
Dreaming only of fragrant nectarines and a cool spring breeze
None of this is real
None of it is really what it seems
Don’t dwell on such things
Just accept this life
It’s so much easier when we medicate
So much easier to hesitate
